Recurring Guest Star on Season 2 of “Queen of the South” – Promo Trailer

Johnny Rey Diaz is an award-winning Latino actor/filmmaker from Tempe, AZ. He attended The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to work as an film development intern for Panay Films at Disney Studios. He transitioned into acting shortly after and has appeared in several network TV shows, including CBS’s NCIS, Hawaii Five-0, Scorpion, Freeform’s Stitchers and the CW’s Containment. He is currently a recurring guest star on season 2 of Queen of the South on the USA network.

His recent independent film work includes the award-winning indie film, “I Am Still Here,” which has won several awards worldwide including “Best Feature” at the 2017 Nice International Film Festival in France. Johnny received numerous nominations and awards for his portrayal as the dark and disturbing lead antagonist in this film:

As a filmmaker he wrote and directed his first short film, the action thriller “Five Are Fallen.” and recently completed directing his second short film, a dark comedy called “Papua.” Johnny is also one of the creators of Real Live Cinema, a platform where he films a short film every week all in one take as it is streamed live.
